A member of staff at Leicestershire Police has appeared in court to admit illegal misuse of the force’s computer system.

Laura Perridge, 30, of Leicestershire, appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to six offences under the Data Protection Act 2018 of illegally obtaining data from the force’s computer systems.

Leicestershire Police released details of the case and said in a statement today: “An internal misconduct investigation is now underway.”

The misconduct process can result in a dismissal or a warning.

Some misconduct hearings are open to the press and public.

Earlier this month, another Leicestershire Police civilian staff member, 56-year-old Jane Denmark, appeared at the same court to admit a series of offences under the Computer Misuse Act.

Denmark, of Saintbury Road, Glenfield, pleaded guilty to three offences and was ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work as part of a six-month community order.

She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
